The First Officer
Which is the greatest character in the Star Trek universe? For my money there's only one choice – Mr. Spock as played by Leonard Nimoy. The stoic Vulcan has long been my favorite, so as a collector, the single greatest piece I could have is a uniform worn by Mr. Nimoy. And through much wheeling and dealing (and lots of plain dumb luck) I was fortunate enough to acquire just that.
This jacket has been photo matched to Leonard Nimoy from Star Trek IV: The Voyage Home. It features the classic maroon styling complete with white lining, an element almost exclusive to Shatner and Nimoy costumes as it defines "command" level rank. It includes a white turtleneck with Leonard Nimoy costume tag and production made belt, also with Nimoy's name. It is finished with production made pants, rank bands and pins and, of course, a metal Starfleet badge. The only known Spock maroon uniforms extant are owned by CBS and are featured in the traveling Star Trek Exhibition, which makes this piece all the more special.
While this would have originally been made for "Wrath of Khan", this version was later worn by Mr. Nimoy in the various PR photos taken to promote Star Trek IV. The availability of these high definition photos was key in identifying the piece.
